A PCB is a printed circuit board, also known as a printed wiring board. A PCB is used in electronics to build electronic devices. A PCB serves two purposes; it’s a place to mount electronic components and it provides the means of electrical connection between the components.
A PCB is used in almost every electronic product available today. It’s by far the most common method currently used to connect and assemble the components of almost any electronic device or piece of equipment.
In many cases when a PCB fails it’s often the case that manufacturers will suggest replacing the broken PCB with a new (and often more costly one) or worse still they may say that the board is obsolete and cannot be replaced at all rendering the device or machinery unusable.
However, in many cases Tech Ltd can offer companies an electronic repair service which will take a look at the problem in to see if there is a possibility that the PCB can be repaired or re-engineered. Repairing a PCB is likely to be the least expensive option available to you.
Tech Ltd will check to see if the required components that need to be replaced are still available. Providing we can identify and source the components there is a very good chance a repair can be carried out in our fully fitted workshop.
An exception to this would be if the PCB contains a single chip which has the manufactures software embedded. Manufacturers’ software is protected and therefore cannot be repaired. However, it’s very often the case that the fault on the board lies elsewhere, within other components, rather than the chip.
We are able to repair a arrange of devices including:
- Power Supply Units
- Control Drives
- System Control Units
Tech can also offer a solution of re-engineering these elements. They can be designed to replicate or improve on the existing obsolete systems functionality.
We always aim to keep downtime to an absolute minimum.
We hope the above article has given you a good overview of the electronic repair services we offer. If you think we can be of help or would just like to discuss your requirements don’t hesitate to contact us on 01233 714919.
